Patient Comfort

Arlington Aesthetic Dentistry

We offer several amenities to help patients relax during treatment. At Dr. Hooper’s office, each of our dental operatories is equipped with a monitor that will allow you to view a movie, watch TV and/or listen to a music CD during treatment.

Nitrous Oxide

Along with local anesthetics, Dr. Hooper may use nitrous oxide to help anxious patients relax during dental treatment. It is more commonly known as “laughing gas,” because it causes giddiness or euphoria. A compound of nitrous and oxygen, nitrous oxide has a sweet-smelling odor. It is administered, along with oxygen, through a nasal mask. Nitrous oxide raises the pain threshold and oftentimes makes treatment time appear to pass quickly.

Local Anesthetic

This is the most common method of anesthesia. Prior to the procedure, you will receive an injection of anesthetic, which will last from one to six hours; depending on the method of treatment chosen and the length of time it will take. The injection is relatively painless.
